Department of Gyne-Oncology

The Division of Gynae Oncology embraces the “One Stop Approach” for addressing the needs of a woman either suspected to have or diagnosed with gynecological pre-cancer or cancer. Our goal is to adopt a patient centric approach for prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of women with cancers of ovary, fallopian tube, vulva, vagina, cervix and endometrium. We ensure that women are cared compassionately and their psychological needs met. A warm and comfortable environment is created and a multidisciplinary approach adopted.

The department is the first in Uttar Pradesh to offer minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) for cancer of cervix and endometrium. With the availability of frozen section and well trained pathologists under the same roof, we offer laparoscopic management of complex adnexal masses.

We extend to our patients warmth, compassion, commitment, state of the art technology and above all the evidence based management of all gynecological pre-cancers and cancers.

Why See a Gynae Oncologist?

A Gynae Oncologist is a doctor specialized and exclusively trained for performing cancer surgeries of the cervix, uterus (womb), ovaries, vagina, vulva and fallopian tubes. They are able to adequately and accurately assess and stage the tumor, its growth and spread.  Gynae Oncologists contribute to women’s health by educating them and organizing specific programs for prevention and screening of gynae cancers. They counsel the couples regarding the impact of the pre-cancer or cancer on fertility and conception.

Gynae cancer surgeries are special operations in which the organ primarily affected by cancer like uterus or ovaries along with the organs to which the cancer has already spread or is likely to spread for example draining lymph nodes, omentum, appendix, intestines are removed. All cases are discussed in Tumor Board Meetings with Radiation, Surgical and Medical Oncologists. Internationally recommended evidence based protocols are in place in our Institute.
